Facebook creates privacy concerns

Facebook have just launched a new feature which allows non registered, non logged in visitors to search their full network of member profiles.

Facebook creates privacy concerns

Although the profile detail is not viewable, this unexpected change in functionality presents a major privacy issue that many Facebook users are probably unaware of. One of the main differences between MySpace and Facebook has always been that the latter was a ‘closed’ network - only visitors with a Facebook account can search or locate other Facebook users. Now that anyone can search to see if a person has a Facebook account, and view their profile photo, what prevents Facebook making your profile accessible to the general public? What about data ownership? Who owns the data that you publish onto Facebook? Who owns the right to make your personal data private or public?
